screensaver

OK, I have this XP Pro loaded on my computer. I have set the power settings on all 3 users to 'never' where it asks about shutting down the monitor. Still it shuts down the monitor after a few minutes. All three users actually have admin power and all 3 usrs are set to never turn off the monitor. What could I be missing?

This is probably why my 3D download failed this morning. I've also lost other long downloads because XP apparently shut me down. I must be missing a setting somewhere. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

 

Do you have an actual screensaver that's just "blank screen" enabled? That would do it. Also, you've normally got a power management section in your bios that's independent of Windows. Check to see if your bios settings are shutting it off.

 

If I do, it's a default setting. Where do I check for the blank screen one? It's not really a screensaver (meaning no ratating pics or such, just a dark screen with the Windows logo in it. Next time I reboot, I will try to remember to check Bios and see if I can find something in there.

So much to learn about this new OS and so much fuzz in the brain right now...............



ahsoooo I just went into Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Choose a Screensaver and lo and behold, there it was- Windows XP was default so I changed that to None and applied. That should do it! Thanks!
