After installing the entire norton package, my computer will no longer go to a screensaver... when i go to set a screensaver i can preview it and it will work however my computer won't go to screensaver by itself. Everything worked before norton... could norton be making my computer think its still being used? Also it doesn't allow my AIM to go to idle so if i ever leave w/o an away message it says im there still.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, your problem could be and probably is caused by Norton! This site has several "free" antivirus apps. that are in the same class as/surpass Norton in the download section. :)

Sorry for late reply, but my work hours are crazy sometime. How exactly did you remove Norton, through add/remove programs? Symantec has a tool/app on their website that supposedly removes all traces of Norton from your system.

I have nothing against Norton, and was a longtime user with no problems, but decided to switch when they came out with the activation part, and I started reading about the problems that people were having with it. Personally, I use Avast and have never had an issue with it.

You might also try running a Registry cleaner after the Norton removal to make sure that all entries are gone. :)

I highly doubt Norton alone is causing this. I run Norton at home and my screensaver works fine.

Have you tried changing your screensaver to something else? Perhaps its one screensaver (custom, not part of Windows?) that is not working.

Also, how long is the time set for the screensaver to go on?

How long is the time set for your monitor to turn off?
