    Need help with creating a script to change the VMware Player default directory for saving virtual machines on to my Data (E:\) Drive. I can do it manually but need to change 30 computers, so scripting would be quicker.

    The script needs to do only a few instructions but I have no idea where to start

    %Appdata%\VMware\preferences.ini
    Add in the following line, changing the path to your desired location:

    prefvmx.defaultvmpath = "D:\Virtual Machines\VMWare Player"

    Any help appreciated.... Thanks in advance

    If you google "edit ini with script" there are a few examples, none as easy as using vtask IMO. Download Vtask from http://www.vtaskstudio.com/index.php

    Left hand side under data click Write ini data (see picture)
    fill in fields like in the picture, then you can go to tools and compile to an exe.
