Hi...I recently have been getting an error message on a search engine I have been using for years (Excite.com) every time now when I first open the page I get this message "A script on the page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly if it continues to run your computer may become unresponsive"
now it only happens with this site, and on my other machine it does not happen at all, however if I go to the history drop down box in my browser and open the site from there it will go to the page that was previously opening from excite with no problem. Can anyone help or tell me why this is happening.

I agree, for one website its not worth it, likely what has happened is that they have updated the page and whatever script they maybe using is not 100% compatible with either the browser or the likes of Java, Flash or Shockwave you may have installed.

SO to rule out the three above I would be tempted to install latest versions if you have not already.

Java RT http://majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html once instslled goto Add/Remove and uninstall all Java Runtimes that are older than this one.

    Adobe Flash http://www.majorgeeks.com/Adobe_Flash_Player_IE_AOL_d5163.html

    Adobe Shockwave http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/

Another thing I can think of is the Script Debugger in IE causing this too, so could you post a screenshot of the error message you get?

or just try disabling the Script Debugger in IE and test the website.

    Open IE

Select Tools > Internet Options > Click the Advanced tab > Check/Tick the Disable Script Debugging box if not already ticked > OK
