I've been having this problem with NHL 2004 for a little while now, and noticed it when I opened Visual Communicator by Serious Magic tonight.
When I go to a new screen / menu / option in NHL 2004, here's what I get:
    ____

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    line: 59
    char: 1
error: 'gblRRManager' is null or not an object
    code 0
    url: file://C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NHL 2004\fe\nhl\html\dynasty_central.html

do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

    yes/no

    ____
    OR one like this:
    ____

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    line: 4
    char: 2
error: automation server can't create object
    code: 0
    url: file://C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\NHL 2004\fe\COMMON\html\main_menu.html

do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

    yes/no

I find this weird, since as far as I know, IE had nothing to do with other programs like games, etc.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?

    I have a Dell XPS t700r
    P3 700Mhz
    Windows 2000 / NT 5.0
    20 gig hd
    256 ram
    Samsung SyncMaster 151v Monitor (1024x768)

I tried disabling the debugging and the messages... still errors poppin' up.
    Any more ideas?

I really don't know... but I'm guessing it must, given the errors.
When I first bought it and played it, it never had a problem (slight graphic ones only, and stunned announcers by times). This has just happened recently. I've played with IE settings, done about 5 different virus scans... nothing's worked.

have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? are there any patches for it?

go into your advanced configuration options for IE and disable scripting all-together. Not just the debugging. See what happens then.

Went into tools / 'net options / advanced. (didn't see anything for disabling scripting altogether)
Tried disabling friendly http error messages, script debugging, and notifications of script errors is unchecked.
Then, instead of a big IE scripts error window (with a yellow triangle / ! , I get a wee runtime error message, I think it was, with the red circle w/ white x, saying basically the same thing.
I'd rather not uninstall the game. Don't want to lose data... unless I could save the game files.
Yes, I have the only patch for the game.

my bad.. the disable scripting is under security ..

Thanks for the suggestion... but it didn't work. I tried enabling data access across domains (it sounded kinda right, maybe?), too... but no dice.
    :(

Yeah, didn't see anything on there about my problem.
Maybe I'll have to email them or something... if I can find a specific support addy or forum.
