Scroll button not working

I have a Logitech mouse. Pretty standard, in fact, there's a Gateway logo on it. It's just a left/right button and a scroll in the middle and with a cord. The scroll button works if you click it, but for scrolling pages, it doesn't! I use this function all of the time and it's really inconvenient. I inherited this with the laptop and I thought maybe the software was faulty, so I went to Logitech and downloaded the driver that looks like it goes with my mouse and still no luck. Is it broken? I'm confused because it works when you push it (and does whatever function you assign it) but not when you scroll.

all i can say is, in technically mouse has a life.,...

 

yep, I played extensively with mouse controls. i can even change the function of pushing the scroll button to "Double Click" or other things, but if i use it as a scroll, nothing happens.

since i inherited it, i don't know how old it is. perhaps it's dead, but the fact that the PUSH function worked, i thought i was missing something.

also, could the touchpad on the laptop be interfering?

p.s. i never got a notification for your responses. i thought i had clicked "instant notification." do you know how to set the default so that it is ALWAYS "Instant Notification?" I hate having to click it everytime. Thanks!

 

go to user cp / edit options / default thread subscrition mode / instant e-mail notification in the pulldown menu
