I need help to determine if a specific card exists, and if so, some suggestions whre I may be able to find it. Here in our office, we have 4 new Gateway E4300 PCs. The dummie in charge of ordering these machines forgot about a Graphtec CS2000 scanner that uses SCSI connection (this is the only hardware on the SCSI series). The PCs will only accept half height PCI cards that have a small cabinet adapter braket (looks about 3.5"). I have no problem findind cards that have full size adapter brakets (4.75" inches I think). I can buy these all day long for $40 to $100. Do the smaller cards exist and where can I buy them? CablesToGo.com replied to my e-mail request "All of our PCI cards are the standard cards with the 4 3/4" ink bracket. " A search on a few other sites has only confused me.

    Try Adaptec or Intel.

Cross your fingers. I ordered LSI20860 from CDW. NOBODY seems to be able to answer my questions without directing me to someone else that can't answer my questions. Everybody has full sized cards. Everybody has what they call a half-height card. Nobody can tell me that their card is not only half-height, but has a small cabinet adapter bracket too.

Pardon my poor spelling in my previous post and my apparent loss of patience. Talking on the phone with 10 different suppliers and getting no definite answers only serves to annoy me.

I have used this site often and been able to get my questions answered without posting. Many of you guys/gals are lots of help. THANKS!

Intel and Adaptec offer half height cards, and I do notice they come with a small metal piece that looks like it replaces the front face plate, is this what you meant?

LSI Logic too, I should have mentioned them. I wish you luck.

Thanks Krazy Karl. I just hope that my guess is correct. The card I ordered is the closest I found in my search (without ordering a $300 card made for some kind of network interface that Adaptec told me would work, but is overkill). It seems nuts that many vendors have half-height cards but none of the vendors could tell me that card came with a small cabinet adapter bracket. They all appeared to have a full-size bracket...which seems to eliminate the purpose of a half-height card (for me anyway). The only reason I can see a need for a half-height card with a full-size bracket is for clearance issues within the cabinet. This is not my problem. My problem is a less-than-full-size cabinet that will not accept full-size cards or full-size brackets.

Woohoo! Got my card. Still got my problem. The LSI20860 is perfect in every way, except the cabinet adapter bracket is full size. Back to the drawing board.
