SCSI vs SATA boot scanning

I have a Tyan Thunder K7 mobo utilizing the SCSI interface to run the system. I want to convert to using SATA drives using a Belkin SATA PCI card (part # F5U198v).
At bootup, if the SCSI scan is enabled, the SATA scan doesn't take place so it doesn't show up in the system BIOS boot order. If I disable the SCSI scan, then the SATA scan takes place and of course now the SCSI drive is missing from the Boot order list.
    Any suggestions?
