SD card displaying "this folder is empty"

when i plugged in the SD card to my computer, Microsoft Security Essentials warned me that it had a virus so I cleaned the SD card. after that, when i open the drive, it displays "this folder is empty" even if the files are there (as verified by checking properties and putting the SD card onto the camera which displays the pictures as if nothing happened).

i know this might be a simple problem but i can't find a solution online.

will appreciate any help i could get.

Cleaning the SD card may have damaged the partition. If you would like to save the pictures on the card, Boot with a Linux live disk. Mount the computers hdd then mount the SD card. then you can save the pictures on the computer. After this restart into Windows and format the SD card, even better if your camera has a format feature use that.

Anytime I have tried to repair a partition on a SD card or a flash drive. I would lose the files.

This is the safest way I know of to same the pictures. Maybe someone else here, will know an easier way.

I never let a computer do anything to an sd card that is used in a camera. I keep my camera cards separate from the sd and sdhc cards I use in a computer.
My camera has software that will deal with the card and that is what I use.

You might be able to recover some of the pictures with one of these programs:
