SD card is driving me mad.

I own a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P - not sure which one, the one with the WLAN link and all. It has a funky little adapter at the front for all my memory card needs.

Or so I thought - It's never had problems with my SD cards in the past, but then I haven't had an SD card to plug in for a while!

The SD card is a 4gb - not sure if this is necessary, but what the hell, the more you know the better right? And It's not that my card isn't being read at all, but the Autoplay comes up when I plug it in, the little orange light is flashing to accept it, but I can't find it on any of my removable disc drives at all.

My Olivetti Printer also does the same thing when I plug the SD card into that! My video camera has no problems with being linked by USB on the other computers, but my computer wants it to be a no-go. :/!

    Advice?

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

So when AutoPlay comes up and one of the options is to Open Folder and you click that what happens? any error messages, if so what?

In My Computer or Computer when the drive is plugged in are any drives listed?

What model Scaleo P is it, as its crucial to know if we need to update or reinstall drivers?

In Device Manager are their any yelllow ! marks by any device and if so what?

Have you have malware reciently? have you scanned for malware as that can be a cause of non working USB devices.

Do you have any smaller size GB SD cards and do they work OK?

I would open Device Manager and goto USB Serial Bus Controllers and open the branch click the + and then plug in your SD card and if it shows as a USB Mass Storage Device, right click and Uninstall, the remove the card and re-plug it in and let Windows re-install the driver.

I'm not sure what service pack, don't know where to find out, sorry, i'm useless!

I haven't had any malware/spyware recently or anything - scan the darn thing everyday - but my computer is seemingly on it's last legs, it's been mucking up all over the place lately (crashing, etc, the like), but it's around a good 4 years old now.

    It's a Scaleo P Celeron D 340 2.93.

Unfortunately I don't have any other SD cards, and when the autoplay runs it doesn't even give me any of the options that it usually would - it just shows the "autoplay" window in the top corner and then disappears when it's finished!

Is the 4G an sdhc card? Look at the label on it. Your reader might only be able to read sd cards since you mentioned it was 4 years old. Yup, there is a difference. You might have to ante up for a USB, sdhc card reader.
