Hey, I am having a similar problem. My laptop also has an SD card reader. I can put my SD card in, and my computer recignises it (it comes up in "disk drivers" under control pannel) however, it does not show up in "my computer" and i dont know how to acsess it to put files onto it, and remove them.

Would very much appreciate some help here!!

    Thanx!

    Confused_:(, welcome.
Start here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22 click on the new thread button. It is not good forum etiquette to a) post your problem in a thread started by someone else and b) dredge a thread from several years ago up, unless you have a solution to the problem.

In your post, please include more information: brand and model of laptop (so we can see what sort of card reader it has), what version of windows you are running, make and size of the sd card (some readers are unable to read sdhc cards).

Could it be that the SD card you are trying to read is SDHC, and your reader can only read SD (NOT SDHC) cards? That was an issue for me at one time.

Right-click on My Computer and pick "Manage". Once everything has loaded in the new window, locate "Storage" and expand it so you can high-light/click on Disk Management.

Once the right-side pane has loaded fully, locate your card in the lower list, the one with the gray and blue and white bars. Look for a removable device that has the right capacity, it might not be correctly labeled. After you find the card, right-click on it and select "Change Dive Letter and Paths", and another little window will pop up. In that little window, select a different letter than the one currently assigned. I prefer picking very high ones,to make sure they have never been used for anything else, so most of my cards end up being X, Y, or Z.

So click the change button and pick the letter you want, then click on apply and OK buttons until all windows are gone and you're back in Computer Management. Close that window, and double-click on My Computer again to get a list of drives and cards. Your SD card should show up now.

If going through those steps didn't help, post back with all the info plodr and mcsmc asked for.
