search button not working?

my search button isn't on my start menu, i have a search button in the folders area and everytime i click it nothing happens..it just clicks down and pops back out without openin a search bar, I havn't been able to search for files for a w hile now and just got pissed off about it, wondering if anyone can help

 

go to start/run and type in regedit and press enter

look at the tree view and go to the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\

look for a registry value called "NoFind" if it's there, delete it or change it to 0. log off or restart and the search item should be back.
