    Hi guys,

It's been a while since I've been up here. I have a Windows 11 machine that keeps stopping search indexing. I've tried everything I can find on the web. Sometimes it'll run for a few days and then quit again. I'm frustrated!

Here's a few things that show up in the logs. Any suggestions are welcome. I have gone so far as to install a repair version of windows. I have not wiped the computer and start from scratch. That seems like a lot of work reinstalling software.

I don't know if this is related or not, I'm using SyncBack Pro and this machine. Even though I have task scheduler running at the highest privileges, I keep getting a message saying task manager has an error and can't start the process.

Everything looks like an interesting interface. It looks like it has its own search tools rather than using Windows explorer. I do a lot of copy and paste back and forth between drives and with dropbox. I may have passed it by, but is there a way to do this easily in Everything?

Here are some things you can try:
    1. Run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter:
Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Find Search and Indexing and click Run

    2. Rebuild the Search Index:
Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows.
Click on Advanced indexing options > Advanced > Rebuild

    3. Check for Disk Errors:
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type chkdsk /f /r, then press Enter. The system may need to restart to complete the scan

    4. Use WhoCrashed Utility:
    Download Whocrashed from https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/whocrashed_free_home_edition.html
Perform an analysis to determine if a driver or anti-virus/anti-malware is interfering with Windows Search and Indexing.

    5. Updates:
Use Windows Update and a Driver Update utility to ensure all components are the latest.
Check the manufacturer's wedsite for your compute and disk drives for updates and/or utilities.

Everything is great for finding stuff but I've never found it useful for copying/moving stuff around. Also, it can only handle files either on or attached to your computer, so it cannot include Dropbox or other online data in its searches.

Ok. It's taken a while for this to fail again. I ran WhoCrashed and it came up empty. I did run checkdisk on my system drive and it cleaned up a bunch of errors. I was kind of surprised that a fairly new (less than a year) old SSD has as many errors as it did.

I've rebuilt the search index several times and this is the problem I've been having. It will run for several days, index over 1,000,000,000 files and then just stop. I was running last night, today index has stopped.

I haven't tried the void tools yet, looks like that's the next place to go. I do wish Windows would behave....
