can anyone suggest a solution please.?
It would probably be clearer if I give an example of what I want to achieve as my programming knowledge is zero.!

What I need is a simple webpage search facility that I could set up with say 5 or more question tick boxes or yes/no type answers . Once an enquirer had answered all the questions they would be left with all the options that fitted their needs .

Lets take an example, suppose a used car dealer had 100 used cars for sale . Online customers wanted to search for their 'perfect car' but didn't want to laboriously search through 100 spec sheets for every vehicle the dealer has in stock.

    The searcher might enter.
    1. Colour choice ?
    2. Petrol or diesel engine ?
    3. A/C required ?
    4. Sunroof yes/no ?
    etc etc .
After answering all the questions the software would show him all the vehicles in stock that would meet his requirements.
If there were too few cars that met his requirements the searcher could then modify his requirements for another search to get better results.

The simple answer is pay someone to do it for you. I can't really help you find the right web development firm since I don't know any, but someone else here might.

A web page like this is not something that can be written in a matter of minutes. (depending on how professional it needs to look)

thanks for your response but as I said in my post. I'm looking for ready made software . Its for charity so it has to be free or very cheap doesn't it !;)

Its probably going to turn out theres a free app i can download and use on my cellfone

I think people are making this out to be far more complicated than it is frankly.
There isn't a single retail website on the net that doesn't have a stock control/purchasing program to help customers find the right size or colour of garment. I refuse to believe that every single web designer develops and writes that simple search function from scratch .rolleyes

Its the most basic computer function there is . IF AND OR NOR ETC . its basically the software version of a simple switch ie 'show all black widgets' 'show all widgets costing less than £10.00', 'show only widgets sized XXL' etc etc its not rocket science surely ?rolleyes

No, but it is computer science. :)

Good luck, but you won't find a free website that does exactly what you want. Also, even if you do, you'll need someone to set it up and you'll have to pay a monthly fee to host the website.

True, they don't write all of it from scratch, but they do pay anywhere from thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars for people to write/customize/set up/and host them.

If you search google, you'll come up with plenty of results that will require quite a bit of customization, and you'll probably have to build the back-end database from scratch.

The old addage, "If it were easy, anyone would do it" comes to mind.
