I found many different threads about this but none of the solutions seem to work for me.

Anyway, I have my internet connection hooked up to a hub which goes to two computers. The first PC (this one) can connect to the internet fine while the other cannot. I've tried setting up various network connections ot see if that was the problem but nothing seems to work. When I repair the network connection it comes up with 'failed to renew ip address' also when I go into the command log and try and /release, /renew it comes up with failed to contact DHCP server. I have both network cards set up to obtain IP address automaticly.

By "hub", do you mean a multi-port router? If it's only a hub, you shouldn't even be connecting to the internet with the one computer. Please describe your set-up a little more in detail.

It goes from our router or internet -> hub -> Pc's

Just a basic hub. It use to work awhile ago but it stopped about a month ago while I was on vacation.

    Do you:

Have a high speed internet connection? DSL or cable?
Have a modem supplied by the ISP?
What is the make and model of what you are calling a router?

My connection is Cable. The cable modem hooks up to a hub and then onto the other Pc's sorry I had a brain fart and kept calling it the router. As before this use to work with both Pc's we had a small lan party going on and it worked fine.

You could certainly have a LAN party with that, but without a router, the only way to share your cable internet between two computers without a router is to have two network cards in one PC-- one connected to the hub, and the other to the cablemodem. You would have to use Windows ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on that machine to allow the second PC connected to the hub to effectively use the first PC as a router.

I still can't see how you connected to the internet thru the hub at all, if that's what you are saying you were able to do at some point in the past.

Yeah it's been the same connection I've had for a few years. When I first got it we were playing Diablo 2 over the net, it just went straight from the modem to the hub and to our PC's. Thanks for the help i'll barrow my friends router and see if it changes anything.
