secure my network connection

I use my works wireless internet WiFi, but have been told that my personal laptop will be "monitored" from time to time to make sure I am not improperly using the internet...is this possible?

AND, if it IS, how can I secure my laptop so that personal files, banking websites, etc are safe??

 

I think they mean they just look at what sites you are going to (ie a log with web sites/addresses). Chances are they probably won't even look at them. As far as security of files and personal information, make sure nothing is shared on your laptop and you should be ok.
