    Sounds like scam pop ups.
If you have MalwareBytes and/or Superantispyware on your system, make sure they are up to date and then FULL system scans with them.

    Thanks Max,
Will download Malwarebytes and do the scan but why on two PCs?
Long time user of the F-Secure suite.

Who knows, especially as they are both connected to the same router. A screen shot of the pop up might help.
Make sure F Secure is fully up to date and is showing as live on the system

Try temporarily changing your home page on one of the machines. If that fixes it then it's an issue with the BT website itself.

The pop up is as I have posted...about the same size too as you see it.

Downloaded and ran Malwarebytes...nothing fond (WiFi PC).
Ran F-Secure full system scan...nothing found. (Ethernet PC).

Will try the home page change and see.

Google home page looking OK so far....will play for an hour or two then report back.

Just a visit to your old home page in IE should confirm or disprove it.

I didn't see and I still don't see a screenshot of the pop up.
As for below, you should also have used MbAM on the wired PC too. You need to treat them the same.
But I think Earthling's suggestion is a good one.

Sorry it's the box with 'Security Alert' in the top left corner.

Google was OK...returned to BT and it appeared again!

Will scan both PCs with Malwarebytes.

Now scanned with Malwarebytes on both PCs.....
    WiFi...nothing found.
    Ethernet PC 1010 found...all 'PUP Optional'...followed by...Cross Rider/Double Dock/Nosibay etc.
    All removed.

    'Security Alert' appears again.

    Long time F-Secure suite user.
Have done some searching on various sites and it is suggested:-
It's a Windows problem....BT doesn't update the certificates enough.....It's harmless and will go away......Remove the BT Help file and it will stop.

I have a distant memory that I have had this before...can't remember what happened but can only assume it did actually go away.
It's not in my little black book of 'problems'.

I think I should leave alone for a day or two and see?

Okay, just checking, F-secure also do an online scanner as well.

Are you sure you're getting this security error from an online page, not just your BT router?

Whichever, you really need to give us the full URL of the page that's giving you the error :D

PS. Have just run the online scanner with nothing found...did run the full scanner from the PCs earlier with the same result.

    FWIW...
Clicked your link and the website opened with no security warning.
I'm in South Africa and I used Internet Explorer 9.

Looks like a F-Secure false alarm to me but unable to test it.

It's really random but been clear for the last couple of hours.....very odd!
    Will report back tomorrow.

PS. Earthling it is a problem reported on different systems but does seem to focus on BT.

That's an http page, I don't think security is an issue and I don't think it should be checked for - that's why I checked the https version earlier, that's where security is important and expected.

Does F-Secure have any add-on installed in IE? Can you test with the Internet/network security sections of F-Secure disabled (turn on the Windows firewall during testing) to see if you get the same results?

Can you also try a different browser, Firefox, for instance? Check if F-Secure adds anything to that, too.

I went there okay. Even changed location to 'US and Canada'. It let me save location for future visits. Nice.

All I got was the UK's cookie notice.

Win 8.1 IE11 WinDef and WinFW

The Alert has not appeared since yesterday so I assume it has simply 'gone away' as suggested by some other BT customers.

I did check the clock as suggested.
I had already stopped the IE add-ons when I reset IE.

Thank you all for your help it is much appreciated.
