I'm really frustrated with this networking. I've got a Windows XP SP2 desktop, an Dlink DNS 325, and a Vista laptop connected to a Linksys WRT160Nv2 which has been working well. I'm been working a lot of hours and had been turning my Laptop off while gone. I don't recall adding any new files for the last two weeks.

The last couple of days, while on the laptop, I've tried to get to the Dlink. First through my windows explorer going to the mapped drive. I got the message that the Dlink is not accessible. "You might not have permission to use this network.... The local security authority database contains an internal inconsistency."

So I click Ok and try to go to through the network connection. I can't see the Dlink connection, nor the XP machine.

I can FTP to the site. I can ping the connections to the laptop, desktop and Dlink. I can NOT http: to the Dlink.

What does the Local Security Authority Database contains an internal inconsistency mean? Web search hasn't led me to anything that I'd feel confident is the real answer. Specially since one says my Floppy drive is bad. Since I don't have a floppy drive....

Researching wasn't real helpful, so I rebooted (meaning unplugged) the Dlink, router, modem and computers and started them up again. Unfortunately, I had to leave for work and while I was gone, the windows update forced a reboot of the XP system.

The good news is when I came home the network was working perfectly. The bad news is, I don't know exactly why.... I'll accept the fact that it's working and be happy with the results.

Thanks to those that took a look.
