Security breached on Yahoo Messenger.............

I hope this is the place to bring this up. I received a message with a link from one of my contacts. I clicked the link as it said that she had a photo file there for me to see. Well, I did and the site was in french (of course, I couldn't read that) so IM'd her back and was told, she didn't send that link. Too Late. When I signed out of my yahoo account and then back in later it was gone. Totally, email, yahoo messenger, my yahoo, all gone. In calling my contacts to let them know why I had disappeared I find they have the same IM from me (purportedly) that I got. I was able to catch most family members before they clicked on that link and saved them ( I hope). I don't believe it effected my email or theirs (WHEW!). I was finally able to obtain a ph # for Yahoo and relayed the situation to them. We are now trying to see if my account be be recovered or if I must start a new one and hope my contacts on the old Yahoo Messenger aren't too mad at me. My question is, is this best way (only way) to handle this. Has anyone run into this before. Thanks for any feedback..

There is a possibility that you where hit with a Trojan (http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/removal.php). Follow the steps below and post the HJT log as it states.

Please follow the steps below:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:
