I downloaded the windows security pack 2, and ever since then, it says my local connection has limited or no connectivity. I don't know if there are other threads that relate to this, but if anyone can help, that would be appreciated. im just using an external modem connected to sbc via dsl. thanks

Yes, it appears many people are now having internet problems...me included.

Symptoms: I can enter an address into the address box in IE, but system hangs, does not "hourglass" to show it's working on the address. Sometimes, after about 30 seconds, the site will pop up.

Same address can be entered into the search field for Google and the site can be accessed, so it is not site availability.

This has only occurred since installing service pack 2 on my machine(an HP 8555).

ExtremeTech forums are also reporting sporadic problems...this is Gates-induced and another example of their sloppy work.

Laslar - Do a search over in Extremetech.com - I remember seeing a post in the networking section that had a fix for this - somehow SP2 is changing default settings....sorry, can't remember exactly which post, but I know it's there...

No virus is doing this - I've run all the latest tests with both Norton and McAfee, no problems...this happened immediately after installing SP2....

TCP/IP was change in SP2 to curb the threat of Worms spreading like wildfire and was by design. However the limit of 10 concurent connections does slow the likes of browsing and p2p apps down, if you goto the Event Viewer you will see Event ID 4226's listed.

it can be resolved and to save my fingers typing here's a link http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497
