Apologies if this post is listed under the wrong topic - but I just needed to hear other people's opinions on this.

Basically I have a friend who assures me that all his contact details were obtained by a work colleague, just from giving his email address.

The details of the story, in his own words, are as follows:

Now I questioned the fact that could he of obtained this information just by searching through his work computer, using another system on the work network. To which he replied:

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this, or believe it's even possible?

Or is my mate just pulling my leg?

 

Well all I can say is that anything is possible but weather or not its plausible is a different thing. I have heard of such a thing as your ip address will reveal your history as far as web searches through google , but as for how its done (or even if it is true) I couldn't answer that. As for the full address, phone number thing that is easy to get online as long as the person knows your name and approximate location. The MSN contacts--Im sure there is a way to get into that with enough time. Well I hoped this helped you in some way and might I suggest you change your password for MSN and whatever else you may feel may have been compromised.

Is your LT is powered up and signed up on MSN at home.

MSN Remote Desk Top, along with a keylogger, on your work computer would do the trick. That is if you access MSN and Facebook on the work computer. Address and phone number are easier... Cheers
