When in Add/Remove Programs, I noticed that I have got dozens and dozens of the following : Windows XP Hotfix, Update Windows XP and Security Update for XP.

Can I safely delete these since the relevant updates will have been automatically installed?

    Desktop running XP SP2.

if your comp is running fine after doing all the updates then it should be fine to delete them. the version of ccleaner i have, has an option for that (that's what i used to remove them). g/l - sos

If you remove those, you remove the corresponding updates that go with them.

yeah use ccleaner to get rid of em all it dose its get rid of the uninstaller nothing else so you still have the hot fixes on the computer.

You are referring to removing the update uninstallers with CCleaner under Advanced - Hotfix Uninstallers. I think Grumbles is referring to the updates themselves as Adrynanlyn pointed out.

Yes sorry for any confusion here, it was not the installers I was asking about, it was the actual files that sit in my Add/remove programs in Control Panel. They just seem to sit there and I was trying to clean up files that i don't use :)

Thank you all for your contributions :)
