The subject may be a little misleading. This is my quesitons, since I have xp installed there are some things that will not display. For instance I have a site called "freeclassicgames" that I have been using for sometime on my old cp.

On the new system the games on the site will come up but the game does not display

Also there are some greeting card sites I use and if and sometimes the card display will not show. There is always a red x in the corner. Outlook express has this same feature, however, they have a place in their security settings that you can uncheck or they also have a place on a incoming mail that you can open if you want the picture to open.

I kind of feel there is a setting some where that you can uncheck but cannot find it.

    Would appreciate any help.

    Thanks, Java

    Java:
In Internet Explorer go to tools, Internet options, advanced, and check there to see if you have what you need are enabled. Under Multi Media there is a
listings for pictures and such you may need to put a check in. Also, if you do not have java you mat want to download it and install sun java at www.java.com and make sure that is ckecked there under options also. Hope that helps.

Java: I went to the website freeclasicgames. and it is java based. If you do not have java on you windows xp you would show x's in the boxes there. Microsoft doesn't supply java for windows xp andymore, so you have to download it at www.java.com and install it yourself. I suggest you so the manual download which is on the right hand side of the page, then do the offline version. That seems to work better than the auto download I have found. Good luck.

Hi Java, a couple of things you maybe missing here are,

Macromedia Flash, online game sites like freeclassicgames, the games are generally programmed in Flash or Java

http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave...=ShockwaveFlash ( I personally would untick the Yahoo Toolbar option before installing as its not needed )

also another one while your at Macromedia is to install Shockwave Player as some websites use this also http://sdc.shockwave.com/shockwave/...d/download.cgi?

dunno why Java would act like that tho! yes maybe un-install and re-install again.

Also some e-card companys use Macromedia Flash for the animations in cards... Hallmark for one do.

Thanks Halo, I uninstalled java, it when I tried to click on java.com it would come up and then click off. When I did the add remove it did tell me there was a bad installation. I am gonna try you thoughts and see.

    Thanks as usual ;)

Reinstalled Java and it did allow me to open freeclassic games,

Also thought I had installed macromedia, but when I tried the cards that said flash they didn't load.

So tried to reinstall it again and got this msg: I/E stopped this site from installing active x control on this computer.

    Wonder should I install it

    Thanks

Java: Did a lil box come up at the top of Internet Explorer when you tried to play the cards? Internet Explorers ad blocker likes to block alot of these things, but usually you can left click on that box and tell it to install. Do you remember seeing that box pop up? Also, I found with some sites I play games on, I have to allow them to my safe sites, otherwise they don't disply right. To do that go to tools, InterNet Options, Security, Trusted Sites, Sites, uncheck the box that says require server verification and paste your site in the box where it says safe, then recheck that box for require server verification. The only way I can view the chat screens in games I play is to allow the sites like pogo and such under my trusted sites. Hope this helps you.

I don't believe I said what kind of cards I meant, I meant to say greeting cards that has flash antimation.

I thought I had d/l macromeadia flash, but when I checked my add/remove I found that shockwave has downloaded but the flash did not and when I tried to load it again I got the msg in my previous post I am not sure about active x that is why I was asking about it.

    Thanks.

I sort of knew what cards you were talking about thats why I mentioned Hallmark in an earlier post.

As for installing Flash and the ActiveX popup, just click the allow line as this one is ok, macromedia can be trusted ( well as much as any company! ) and I have never had a problem with them.

Just remember to untick the install YAHOO toolbar bit as its just not needed.

Thanks Halo, Schockwave and macromedia flash is working now. I thought that the load from flash would show in the add/remove but it doesn't.

    Thanks!! :)
