What is your problem? We have been chasing you around the forum, deleting welcome posts to threads that are several years old and also nonsense posts in extremely old threads in the tech forums...we have left comments for your attention, closed threads and trying to be polite and tolerant.

Is there a problem that you cannot understand or comprehend our requests?

Another issue that needs to be addressed is your user name. Initially you stated you were a MS MVP but to date have not provided us with the requested link to your MVP profile at Microsoft. This is rather disconcerting in and of itself, but your user name is misleading for our members, especially newer ones who may confuse you with MG's staff. Please choose another more appropriate user name and I will change it for you.

You understand I'm sure that we have to be careful b/c many people try to say they are an MVP when they are not and it has been disastrous to deal with. Thanks for understanding and I'll respond further when I hear back from the messages I sent.

That being said, I have to wonder how you managed to write all those articles for publication based on how you have been posting here? Are you ok?

Correct answer is none. Info is easy to get, but using it correctly is harder, but infinitely better.

 

It truly amazes me what lengths someone will go to just to have the 'privilege' of a PM.. That, is a 'Privilege', for sure...

As for being a MS MVP, I would have too see some credentials, before I believed that... A MS MVP would never stoop to this level just to use the PM.. Knowledge is a beautiful thing..... One must take their time, and enjoy the ride. No point in rushing into it....

 

Hmm AbbySue, would this be part of some MS marketing ploy? I remember discussing this with Halo quite a while ago and with his contacts he deemed the poster/site as OK, though not this particular one. I'm not saying this is the case here. Ya'll can see the IP but anyone can find those. It would be nice to have a 7th MVP in here. There's not many places where one even sees five, let alone one!

What i can not understand is that of all the forums to try and BS in he picked MGs, that was the biggest mistake.

One can be forgiven for the occasional falsehood but to say you are an MVP when it is so easy to disprove.

 

As hard as I'm sure it is to check all the files here and make sure they're up to standard, it would be even harder to individually babysit all 189,813 (current) members. When one is caught performing below standard not only are thanks from us little guys due, but it is otherwise pretty impressive. I admit I must have missed whatever it was that happened, but I'm glad people have their eyes opened to the kind of things being talked about in this thread.

I don't mean to step on toes, or cause more concern than there already is, just wanted to say thanks to the higher ups, for keeping this site not only clean and fun, but safe and trustworthy. You're all "MGP's", at least from where I sit.

Of course not AbbySue, it's just there was another poster here and on my site a few months back and their alias looked like an official MS rep wheras it was just a lame attempt by some MS hired marketing firm to 'reach out' to the people. A real bunch of jerks IMO.

I can't remember the alias but I know Halo spent a good while tracking these people down down, I just thought this was a similar lame way of getting people's attention. I guess that part of the ploy did work, though to the OP's chagrin.rolleyes:-D

No. "Outreach Teams" were used briefly in past by a company contracted by MS marketing to reach out to users. These posters were totally ignorant as to how technical support forums (as opposed to "social" sites) work. That problem has since been corrected. This, I am pretty sure, is a rogue individual.

 

And one that obviously didn't do a lot of research or planning ahead either..

I'll add my thanks to Paxton's, and just echo what he said. The fact that the owners, admins and mods of this site go to such great lengths to keep it clean and reliable is one of the reasons this will always be my first stop for any kind of tech support I might need.

 

Well, I know that's one of the reasons I hang out here and help where I can - plus I'm always learning something new.

If I could go back and rephrase what I said earlier I would change "totally ignorant" to naive and misinformed. In their defense, these were good hearted people with no ill intent doing what they thought MS contracted their company to do; reach out and pitch Microsoft. They were not "forum people" and had no idea their "marketing" methods were out of place in "technical environments". I do not want to imply there was any bad intent on their part for their was none. It really was an innocent mistake. But next time, it could be some badguy trying to befriend a new "target". That's why we have to watch each other's back.

Well, I'm not sure about that as only last month we had a second person come in using a similar alias, he stayed around to defend himself for a few posts and hasn't been back since. Anyways, your assessment is totally correct.

EDIT: Oh, not the 'security_admin' one, more like MS Outreach team or similar.

 

I am sure there could still be a straggler or two that has not received the word - my point is, they are not really from Microsoft, but they did not have any bad intent either. Of course, a copycat may have other motives.

 

The saddest thing about the whole situation is that because of how great it is here now these people will totally not know how great they would've had it here. They really messed up big on that.Thanks to the ones who catch these guys.

 

Phew! I was starting to feel bad about using it too often! LOL I try to be selective and only report the most obvious cases, but sometimes it feels like that's all I do... especially lately, when I've taken to lurk and not post at all outside of the Lounge. It's nice to know it actually helps.
