I have Security Essentials installed and running, but the Security Center (whose Virus Protection shows Not Found) only has Find a Program linked to MS's site. Security Essentials is installed and running. *Shouldn't the Find a Program button open a Program Files Folder on the C: drive of this computer, an Acer Aspire 5050 running Vista OS?* The Spyware & Other Malware Protection section of Security Essentials only has the same option, Go Online only, or continue using Defender. This computer had a bad HiJack to Gimmeanswers.c. TDSSKiller put a dent in it, SAS had a nice amount of T&A (Trojans & Adware), MBam seemed like it was working but I had a suspicion it was being faked to look like it was not detecting anything (& MBam was having some installation problems-all I eventually corrected), pasting directly to the address window of InternetExplorer bypassed the virus, ESET online scanner proxy settings initially failed & the firewall autoshut itself off but finally ended up working, CCleaner and ATFCleaner helped make little windows of opportunity to flush whatever the computer was thinking so hard about, msert verified zero infections after all that, and Unhide.exe gave the hidden icons & C: directory back. (Thank you _nullptr)

For now, I've turned off the Security Center warning. MSSecurityEssentials is updated and active. *Why doesn't the Virus Protection of the Malware Protection portion of Security Center find MSSecurityEssentials?*

Defender wouldn't Turn On. When installing the latest version of Defender it just said it was already installed. I tried using the File Assassin in MBam to eliminate the Defender folder (But I think a proper de-installation was required) because when I tried installing the new Defender again it came up with an error code. *Can the Spyware & Other Malware Protection of the Malware Protection portion of Security Center be uninstalled and reinstalled?* I didn't see Defender in the Install/UnInstall portion of Programs and Features in the ControlPanel.

*Has anyone modified Security Center (Vista) to talk to MBam in the Spyware & Other Malware Protection of the Malware Protection portion of the Security Center?*

*Should I simply relax with the Security Center warning off or would it be beneficial for Windows Security Center to be monitoring in conjunction with MSSecurityEssentials and Defender?*

*Could Windows Security Center be made to monitor in conjunction with MSSecurity Essentials and MBam?*

The Malware Protection portion of Windows Security Center shows two sections, one for Virus Protection and one for Spyware & Other Malware Protection. (Neither of which have options to choose from the C: drive). The Virus Protection portion says, "Not found-Find a program". (Even though MSSecurityEssentials is up and running). The Spyware & Other Malware Protection portion says, "(Defender)Off-Turn on now" (Even though Defender used to be there but became unresponsive and Defender can neither be installed nor uninstalled, LOL).

It sounds to me like since I'm having no problems now (Security Center warning off) using MBam & MSSecurityEssentials, that I shouldn't even worry about it. I thought I read somewhere on the MS site that the only way to rectify the ability for Windows Security Center to talk with MSSecurityEssentials and Defender again is a complete reinstall. (But that was just HomeWorkFast I briefly made in preparing this post)

OK. Thank you very much! Jason

PS. Everything has been back to normal for two days now with lots of reboots and double checking online google searches and all. It's my suspicion that these are some residual anomolies left over from the initial infection. (I'm only guessing though. But it feels like a powerful hunch)

What you are seeing is normal.
MBAM runs with MSSE in XP and 7 with no problem. I have this setup on several computers.

OK. Cool. It kind of reminds me of putting aftermarket analog gauges on my old Cadillac, which already had digital readings, just not temp & fuel pressure! LOL

I'm getting closer to making the upgrade to Win 7.

    Thank you very much! Jason
