I have been ripping my hair out for hours on this problem. I am in a computer lab of about 30 PCs all sharing a T1 connection. The majority of these PCs have Athlon 750 with a VIA chipset board. Two of these PCs would not boot to the OS (Win 98), so I thought I would clone them both. I used two good PCs as the masters so that I could clone the other two at the same time. As I opened up the non-working PCs, I see that they have been upgraded with Intel boards and celeron processors. Once I cloned the two HDs, I booted them up and loaded the correct drivers for the intel boards. Note: The original PCs had a TNT2 video card and SMC 1211TX NIC and the new PCs had integrated SiS video and NIC. Everything seems to be working properly as far as video, sound, and even seeing our Novell server. I set the new IPs for the PCs and checked for internet, but I cannot access it! I triple checked all the IP and DNS numbers and they are correct, but I keep getting a "Page cannot be displayed" when I open up the browser. They have all the same protocols and settings, and I can even Ping the other PCs and I tested to see if I can get IP conflicts and I did, so it seems to be seeing the LAN... Please help, and let me know if you need more info, thanks!!!

Is the gateway set properly? I didn't see you specifically mention anything about it.

I'm sorry, the gateway is set correctly as well. As far as I can tell, all network settings are correct.

have you tried reinstalling TCP/IP on those machines.. and perhaps the NIC's as well?

Yes, I removed everything, Driver, TCP/IP, Novell client, and rebooted, reinstalled, and still have the same problem.

    Problem Solved!

I finally got the internet again!! Here's the solution for anyone else who runs into this:

Remove everything in your Network Neighborhood (TCP/IP, NIC Drivers)

Before you reboot, go to regedit, HKEY local machine, system, current control set, services, and remove the winsock2 key.

Reboot, and reinstall all your drivers and it should be back up.

Thanks for your help Kodo! It was better than any tech support I have ever tried because you actually gave me real solutions instead of BS fake ones like most help desk guys do. :)
