Seems like the one no one can fix - im perplexed

"The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll"

I have been messing with this for 2 days, had rescue me tech support in my computer for 4 hours, searched hi and low, is majorgeeks the answer?

My computer froze up yesterday, i soft booted and got a "disk boot failure", i hard booted and got to the "windows is starting screen" and then it locked up. I did an XP Pro repair so at least I can get in and almost all programs work except for the error as shown above, I get different dll's that the error shows up in depending on the program, windows search, live messenger, etc. IE6 does open and run.

I cant do any SP2 or SP3 updates because what happens is the system will get to "running processes before install" and then it locks up

I have most of the issues solved since i can run my puter, just cant upgrade SP's or start live messenger and searches.

So, how do I fix that error? The other thing that shows up when i try open live messenger is error 8007007F

did the sfc/scannow and i have the wrong cd, my ex wife must have my cd and i have hers, im not calling her!! lol

I will try the slipstream bootable cd!! thanks tons!
