How do I put a QuickTime mov file on a self-contained CD, so that it can be viewed without installing QuickTime viewer on the computer?

You'd probably have to convert it to a more friendly format that can be played in Windows Media Player without needing a special codec. I'm pretty sure you can go to the Microsoft web site and locate the info about what formats WMP can natively play. I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure that you could convert it to an .AVI file in DivX/XVid format using either SUPER, MediaCoder, or Dr. DivX (the easiest to use by far but uses a .divx extension; you can reportedly change it to .avi without any problems for better compatibility). Here's some links:

    MediaCoder: http://www.majorgeeks.com/MediaCoder_d4987.html
    Dr. DivX: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Dr._DivX_d5208.html
Those are all free. You can also look thru the Multimedia section here at MajorGeeks for other apps if those above don't look good to you (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads32.html )
    Good luck!
    And Happy Holidays! :D
