I know HOW to do it, but my PC won't let me. I can't key up and down to select the mode I want. It just always reboots in normal mode. I've tried every key on the board now, and mouse selection too.

Any ideas greatly appreciated please :D

Lev hunny what OS you using?

Tapping F8 as soon as pc is booting is normal way to get menu listing...

but if that is not playing ball with you, then at Start > Run type mscofig enter and choose BOOT.INI and tick Safeboot > apply > reboot ( note you will have to enter msconfig again and untick Safeboot to return to normal boot if you use this method )

I'm on XP SP2, and repeatedly hitting DELETE gets me into the menu listing but then I can't toggle between the options.

I will try your other suggestion when I get home. Thanks Halo...much appreciated sweetie :D

    Lev,
Hitting delete on some computers would get you into the Bios setup. Tapping F8 is the normal way of getting to Safe Mode, or the prompt screens which lists different options, of which Safe Mode is one of the mentioned. :)
