Is it better than a AMD Athlon Xp 3200+?

If you want to be 64-bit, then yes.

If you want a faster processor, the XP 3200+ is better.

As far as normal activities, you won't see much of a performance difference (IMO), but the XP will probably outperform in video editing, gaming, etc.

The Sempron 64 will probably run cooler.

I don't have much experience with Sempron 64s though, just Athlon 64 and regular ol' Semps.

To put it in plain words, Sempron is AMD's budget chip line up.

If you want performance, go for the Athlon XP, if money is your primary concern, then go for the Sempron.

The Sempron has less L2 cache, which makes a big difference in performance.

Also, not all Semprons have 64 bit extensions, only models with "BX" as the last two letters. (Original Semprons weren't 64 bit)
