send M$ error report

    Alright, I'm just wondering, what does microsoft get with this? Do they get what programs were running, things like that. I'm just wondering because I like to keep my information to myself...

    Supposedly this is to track and fix bugs in the Operating system. Not a bad idea. You can disable it in your

    Control Panel
    System
    Advanced
    Error Reporting

    Yeah I know that much, it's actually quite nice. It has directed me to downloads a few times, which has helped! Just that I'm thinking there may be more behind it....

    Depends who you talk to, but heres my 2 cents.

    XP is a great operating system... FINALLY! MS knows it and has no intention of letting it slide. Their best bet is to improve it with bug fixes, tweak, etc. How better to do it then ask the users? Its like beta testing, but rarely does a beta get literally millions of users. I have used error reporting and gladly sent in my reports quite a few times. I dont do it any longer as part of tweaking my PC. So, IMHO, i think its something everyone should do at least for a few bugs to help them become aware of problems.

    The error reporting sends your system information and configuration along with the bug check error code. Nothing more. It's not spy ware so please don't spout what you THINK you know because you're paranoid.
