Sending and receiving files blocked.

Well anytime I try to send something or receive something on msn it won't connect. I was thinking maybe it's zonealarm but never have had this problem before. Ive even disabled zonealarm still seems to be blocked. I'm guessing something is blocking my port but I have no clue what....Thanks in advance guys.


Also I read on another forum that Zonealarm is better for beginners to the internet and kerio and sygate are better in a way. Is there in truth to that statement?

 

are you referring to msn messenger?

are you using a router?

might be zone alarm, check your settings i think the ports to allow are 6891 to 6900. Both directions.

if you are using a router, then just set fort porwarding to porward those forts to your IP addresss

 

note: that if both parties are using a router, the transfer may fail even if port forwarding is set.

not really sure why.. Probably has to do with how the packets are created within the router. That is beyond my skill set.
