sending MSWord files via email.

Hello,
When my girlfriend writes a paper in MS Word 2003 at her school and sends it to her school email she can access it via our PC through her university's webmail -and it opens perfectly.
When she writes a paper on our home PC and sends it to her school's email she *cannot* properly view it. -either from home or from school.
The docs just open with some squares and file paths.
The documents are saving as .doc files. Both school and home are using MS Office 2003.
Does anyone know what is happening here?

I'm not quite sure what is happening but i have a very simple solution to your problem. Just have her copy and paste all the text from her word document on to the e-mail.

 

Thanks for the reply and suggestion -it definately works --I'd still love to hear from anyone who can explain what is happening -or anyone who can tell me how to correct the problem.

I hope I understand your problem, anyway,

Viruses can often be sent in word files, so some programs can block access to any .doc file as it could be a potential virus.

All I can suggest is to check any security settings being used.

 

Or another suggestion - assuming you can get Winzip at both ends just put the doc file into a zip file and email that. Even if your missus isnt particularly good with computers it wouldnt take long to walk her through the winzip side of things... worth a shot if you have a word file that has pictures/graphs etc that plain-text or html based emails might not be able to preserve properly.....
