hey guys i have this program that came with my mobo, and its reading my temps at 70c for processor. but i have my alarm for my temps on my case at 60c, and the alarm hasnt went off. i know for a fact that the sensors on the case are not faulty because when i lower the alarm temps, they go crazy...whats going on? what do i trust hardware or software?

    P.S. SPURS OWN ALL :)

Temps in your Bios are they much different to the software your using?

What software monitoring program are you using?
Give Everest a go ( Install > Run > Computer > Sensor for temp readings )

ok i ran sandra, and it gave me some pretty high temps, but not quite as high as that program i was usin. it was some integrated one that came with my mobo...my main board was running at about 57c. i dont know whats wrong. i have a sensor thrown in the middle of my case, and it rarely gets above 37c. could there be something wrong with the mobo, im out of ideas???

have a check at mobo makers site for a bios update that specifically mentions temps, if not then I wouldnt flash the bios unless it fixes a problem you are having.

dunno what type of sensor you put in the middle of the case?

Whats the ambient temp of the room your in too?

Whats the case you have and how many fans, plus what direction is their airflow going?

Are your cables nice and tidy as bad cable managment can trap warm air, thus heating up the hardware.

temp in my room is about 22-24, never any higher. actually i think is alittle lower but my thermomiter is a cheap one, so a ballpark estimate is all i have.

if ur cpu is really running at 70C u have a serious problem. the ambient case temp should not exceed 40C, i always try to keep it under 35C. what is the programm called that u are using to check temps? i would recommend speedfan. its for free. what are ur ambient temps?
also are u using a 3rd party device as a temp sensor? if u are i would disregard what they read and trust ur mobo readings...

yah well i cant see why that is that all the temps in my case are dropped, EVEN THE CPU,(on idle) but whe i game it jumps to low to mid 60's. my room is an icebox concidering where i live the temp right now is 22c (about 70f). do yall think that if i used arctic silver it would make much of a difference? again the only time it heats up is when i game which probably means that the heat sync isnt getting the heat off the processor fast enough.

i know they say that amd's run hotter than p4's, so what is a good average temp for amd processors on both idle and full load?

oh i use everest to get my temps when im not looking at my bios screen. but i know bios are more accurate.
