Serial Code Issues

I'm about to format my computer, but I lost my serial key.
Is there any way to retrieve it through Windows? Is it written somewhere I can access it?

 

The serial key is encrypted in your registry. You can retrieve it using a utility like Keyfinder.

 

Download everest from Major Geeks - Everybody else is -
One of the useful items it displays is the Windows Key, without the danger of fiddling with the registry.
Perhaps some other Geek will kindly provide the link as I do not have it.

Here' the link to Everest Free edition. However, Everest has a bunch more functions and requires installation. Keyfinder is much more simple. You should install Everest for further use if you like.
