Serial port that provides power

    I've been eyeing a serial expansion card that is capable of providing 5v-12v across pins 2 and 3. Was thinking about eliminating the external powersupply for a GPS that I use. The only problem is pin 2 is also the receive pin.


    Does anyone know a way around this issue.....or is providing power on a pin and receiving data on it at the same time....no big deal?
