    Hi,

I have had a few problems starting Windows XP (pro) lately so I bought a new hard drive and had Windows XP (home) installed. I now have both my new hard drive and my old hard drive (which still has the old XP on it and my files) on the computer. This morning when I tried to turn it on it wouldn't start up - it was saying something about booting from a cd (I didn't write it down..sorry). Now it's working but when I started it up it came up with a message saying:

"The system has recovered from a serious error"

    And mentioned the following files:

    C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini120806-01.dmp

    C:\DOCUME~1\Jessica\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1(or I or l).tmp.dir00\Sysdata.xml

Does anyone know what this could be related to? Could the computer be confused about where to boot up from? I am worried because the last time my computer came up with that message, it stopped working a couple days later.

    thank you

On the weekend when I turned it on it turned on fine but this morning it was worse than ever. It just kept restarting, even after windows came on. Sometimes I wouldn't hear the beep sound and it would just be black. Is this something to do with the bios?

The other day when I turned it on it was a black screen with a message at the top reading:

    Connect 3D RV100 DDR BIOS

I didn't know what to do. I pressed enter and nothing happened, I wasn't sure what it was asking me or telling me. So I restarted.

I've got a new hard drive so surely it can't be a fault with the hard drive or windows XP can it?

It continues to tell me that I have recovered from a serious error.

Can anyone give me any help or advice, or direct me towards some information. Thanks.

I'd first try a repair install .....try booting to the xp cd..then enter for new install ....f8 to agreement ...then when it finds the previous install choose "R" for repair ....let us know what happens.
