Serious HDD problem

I have a friends hdd with "go back" installed; now goback is a roxio bs prog kinda like the backup that wxp makes. The problem is it went corrupt and now i need to access it and it wont let me assign a letter to it through windows[was with tech support for wxp for about 3hrs]. Any ideas or possible solutions? I used Ontrack standard to recover the files out of it but he wishes to access the hdd itself.

 

if you've got all the files off of the hd, can't you format it ?

Tell him it would be easier to extract data using a recovery tool.. and safer for his data as well.

 

I already recovered the data as stated above thats not the issue. I need to figure out a way to boot this hdd by removing goback 3.0.

 

if you've got the data and all is well with that, then just format it and re-install. Don't waste your time trying to figure it out if you have all that you need (data).
