    Oh boy...

I need to access files on a Win 2K Server. The server has been removed from the company's setup, but there are emails on there that they need. The person who installed the server is no longer reachable.

There is an admin p/w (assumably a domain, not local). I have hunted in vain to find a solution, but no luck (tried http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and http://ebcd.pcministry.com/).

I was just going to pull out the hard drives and connected them to my pc via an IDE to USB cable, but alas, they are 68-pin SCSI drives.

Any ideas? A sledgehammer is starting to look good.

    Try this http://www.openwall.com/passwords/microsoft-windows-nt-2000-xp-2003
If that does not work try BartPE, you will have to google it.
If that does not work Try any of the "Boot off CD type Linux" CD's that you can download.

In a nut shell, Barts will auto mount the NT drive, the others you have to do it by command line. You will then have to take the .sam file and crack it off line on another windows machine using LC4, Cane & Able and there are many others.

    good luck
