Server 2003 TS login delay

I have a windows server 2003 terminal server that has suddenly started delaying user logins through remote desktop connection.

Whenever I reboot the server and try and login via RDC i get a message telling me i'm not a member of the right group, whether I try and log in as an administrator or any of the users that prior to rebooting could login without issue. After a random amount of time it will let us in.

Its as if its taking a while to connect to the domain controller and get the correct set of permissions but there's nothing to support this.

Any ideas?

 

have you tried logging in directly at the box after a reboot? if you can try pinging your domain controler as soon as you login to see if it finding it at bootup

 

yes on all counts, the strange thing is that after a while, and some its ten minutes sometimes its 40 minutes, users can suddenly log in without incident.

 

after doing some research i found these to look for:

A service or program that loads during the startup process conflicts with another service or program.
You are using user profiles.
There is a hardware conflict on your computer.
A hardware driver on your computer is missing or damaged.
If profiles are enabled, Windows may not be able to contact the primary domain controller's Netlogon share when looking for a Config.pol file. (Windows checks for a Config.pol file even if policies are not used.)
Your primary domain controller (PDC) is not local to your Windows 95 or Windows 98 clients.
A single user profile is corrupted.
Your network adapter is not correctly seated.
You are using a reserved word for your user name.
now some are obviously not the answer but it is a place to start.

 

Is it a member server or a DC?

 

So, logging in at the server console yields the same results?
