Recently(the last 2 weeks) I have had to uninstall and reinstall my a/v program everyday.Fun, fun, fun. It fails to load so I havent a choice. I spoke to my isp whom I get my a/v program from and they sugestted that I reinstall my "tcp icp stack".(????????????) I have also noticed that since the onset of these problems, I frequently get a server busy message asking me to switch to or retry.... is there something that could be causing these problems or a whole host of things that could be reaking havoc here. Frustrating to say the least.

Are you only experiencing these major connection problems with your AntiVira software ?

What is the name of the AntiVira software ?

    a/v software

Aside from the message of server busy which has nothing to do with the a/v program that is it. I use a program called Freedom from "zero knowledge"It is overall a very good a/v program and has the firewall included in the bundle.

Reinstall every day? Try another program, something is fishy there, potentially a trojan or virus your program isnt picking up. Your ISP, like most, are reading from a script, because their answer might be applicable in Windows 98 or ME, for example.

In XP, simply run the internet connection wizard again.

    What MA said.

AOL sends customers to us to rebuild their tcp/ip stack in XP all the time.

We just sit back and laugh to ourselves, because not only does that not apply, we figure they don't even know what a tcp/ip stack is.

Re: the reccomendation above, I tend to reccomend against freedom software, as it hooks into the winsock.

    Mcafee firewall products do too.

    So does spyware like new.net

However there are many more firewalls out there that don't need to do that.

The reason this is so bad is if the uninstall goes bad, you have a very large chance of fubarring your winsock. And when you do, it is extremely aggravating and a pain to fix, especially if you don't know how, because you wont be able to go online for assistance.
