My buddy and I are adding to our running server list, but this time we're on a kind of low budget. So, we were thinking about (and liked the idea of) running a server out of a cardboard box instead of a computer case, just putting all the parts in it and having it run there.

But would something like that be dangerous? Could the power supply become a fire hazard to the cardboard, or could something short out easily? We just got this motherboard, and we'd rather not cause any danger around it or any other component of the server.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Second what matt said, cardboard is an insulator,a good insulator its why beggars sleep in it,it keeps them warm,a server as you prolly know needs to be kept cool,if the servers in anyway important to you buy used $5 case instead of getting extra pepperoni and cheese on your pizza :)

Okay guys, thanks for the tips/warnings. I guess I'll go out and buy a cheap case.
