well im playing counterstrike 1.6 (steam) and i found this new server that i like and when i joined it , it wasnt laggy but then we changed map and it got laggy and we changed map again and it wasnt laggy and now the last 2maps have been really laggy.. anyway the latency of this server is not that high 50-80. Anyway why am i lagging???? my ping is particulary high jumps from 90-120 is it internet lag? or my video card sucks? cuz i wana no ..on all the servers i never lag including surf server.. just on some map i lag.

ive had this problem since i started each time i minimize counterstrike (steam) and maximize it back it freezes to teh pooint i got to shut down my comp then and there.. anyone no whats the problem?

Maybe you should try closing some programs before you play, or you could try updating your video card.

i've been playing CS for the last 5 years... what you need to do is check your rates...

bring down console (i assume you know what that is) and type net_graph 3 and hit <enter>... in the bottom right you will get a read out, observe if you are getting any choke or loss... any loss and anywhere from between 5-20 choke will make it feel like you are lagging (regardless of your latency or ping)...

to get rid of that read out, type net_graph 0...

for broadband users, you want to use the following rates, as the default rates for the game do not give you the smoothest gameplay... try these, hit enter after you type each one in console individually:

    rate 22000
    cl_updaterate 65
    cl_cmdrate 65

also, to make sure you are getting optimal framerate for your given graphics card, you should type:

    fps_max 100

if you have your command set correctly, and you still feel like you're getting lag, it must be your connection to the server, or the server itself, causing the problem..
