Server service not started...please help!!

Hello guys and girls, I am setting up a home network on XP and have taken all the necessary steps in the xp wizard but as soon as I try to share folders or access workgroup computers I get an error saying that "Server service not started".

Please can someone tell me either how to start it or indicate to where else I'm going wrong?

Mmmmm...ok...I've started the server service now but still can't share anything....when I go to my network places there is no sign of the network I just created and when I try to browse anything I'm told I may not have authorisation...even though I'm the admin??

This is driving me nuts!

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed to be shared.
