I checked the search and I don't see anyone else with this issue. I downloaded the full package of SP RC2 but during the checking process it halts and says that I have a system32/drivers/ASPI running. I don't see anything running. I tried the other method of using windows update, but it halted mid download and just stated the the installation failed with no explanation. I'm at a loss here. Thanks

You have a CD ripping or copying tool that will need uninstalling before SP2 ( RC2 ) will install... something like Alcohol 120, Nero Virtual CD which may need to use ASPI.

as SP2 is still under testing some drivers/hardware etc etc may not work properly or even allow SP2 to install cleanly.

Found the solution in the Microsoft support site. I had to move the atapi file to a backup location then install the service pack. After installation you can delete the backup as the service pack places a new one. Thanks anyway. This solution might help someone else. This solution was familiar, I wonder if I did this with SP1?
