Hello everyone... i want to know if its possible to make any program screen resolution to a specific set size (say 1152x864 for example) and to not have my monitor screen resolution change, but to stay the same as i'm using now (1024x768) so i can see things better.

I have bought DVD PHOTO SLIDESHOW PROFESSIONAL software and if i use it with this 1024 resolution, i cannot see all the window sizes and scroll or resize, but if i change my screen res to 1152 then i can use DVD PHOTO SLIDESHOW PRO better. I wonder is there a .bat file i can write to have this program start and display in 1152 res and keep my monitor desktop size as 1024?

(i can change my monitor resolution anytime i like from the taskbar with Hydravision/ATI popup options but dont want to have to change it all the time for using different programs cos it changes my desktop icon layout when it refreshes which is naughty but i can rearrange them LOL:-D

Hope i have explained myself clearly here and not confused you all. Maybe someone can advise/guide me if there is an answer to my small problem. Otherwise, i'll just grin and bear it. LOL

Thank you very much for your time. :)hilaryliz@gmail.com

Not that I know of in MS Windows (which I assume you're using? You don't say.). Used to be able to play tricks like that in early Windows, because it was just a shell on top of DOS, but I've not heard of being able to do that in XP or Vista.

As for not seeing the window controls when you run DVD photo slideshow, you might just need to "maximize" the window then quit, then restart. That should (not guaranteed) reset the window size to match your current desktop size. I could be wrong of course.

hey there, Thanks for your quick reply. I'm using Windows XP Prof SP2. From within DVD Photo Slideshow Prof you cant do much more than max/min the main program screen but when i want to add text to my slides (or other whizbang things), a sub menu box opens up and this is where most of my problems is about screen resolution. You cant resize and no scroll bars either, cant maximise or anything so its very frustrating to use, unless i resize my monitor resolution to 1152 before using the program, then change it back to my preferred 1024 res size after i close DVD Photo Slideshow Pro. ....the mind boggles, LOL *sighs. Thank you for your time..... HIL

So even when you change your screen resolution to 1152x?? you don't see any resize controls on the DVD Photo window? If you do, try making the DVDPhoto window smaller when in 1152x?? mode, then resize your screen back down to 1024x768(?) and see what that gives you.

If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas and maybe someone with a copy of the software in question can help you.

Hello again dear..... I just tried as you suggested and it doesnt work either because you cant do anything with the submenu that pops up (no scroll bars, can't resize or min. can only X - close it). I think i will email ANVSoft about the problem i have encountered with their software, its the only other idea i've got LOL (and silly me, why didn't i do that first? lol) Oh well, many thanks for your efforts here. I love the program, am registered so will email ANVSoft from their website if i can find a contact there. I just thought it was something silly and simple that i had overlooked so didn't want to cause a drama and thought i would find a quick solution here but even so, i love this forum. I've browsed some other problems and read the replies and i think i've learnt a few new tricks (even though i reckon i'm a know-all old bag anyway LOL) Thanks again....regards, HIL
