Setting internet nic and lan nic

This is sort of a weird question but I figured maybe someone knows.

I have an internet connection coming directly to my computer in one NIC. I also have a second NIC which is connected to a LAN. The LAN has internet access. So I really have a 192.168 address and a real internet address. Of course both actually provide internet access.

And for some reason my computer will by default use the LAN nic for internet unless the program I'm running is specifically setup to use the internet NIC. This of course works but I don't want it to use the LAN's internet access because it's slower and it waste's the bandwidth for other people.

This also means I don't want to bridge the connections. I merely want to make it default all internet traffic directly to my internet NIC, thus leaving the LAN NICto be used for only LAN traffic.

How many computers do you have? How many of them you want accessing I-Net? If you only have two puters and you want only one of them accessing the net then I would just install netbui and bind the protocol to only the LAN NIC.

so your not sharing the internet to other computers through this connection you just want to use a different network card for fun?

Maybe I gave too much information for you guys. Let me break it down to this.

There is two nics. They are diffrent connections but in effect they both have internet access. So if you want you can just pretend I have two cable modems running and two entirely separate connections coming in on two nics to the same computer.

Now what I want is I want to set one NIC to use be used for all internet access and the other one simply doesn't get used for anything online, it's used on a lan only.

@chopinpl using netbui isn't a solution for many reasons but mainly this isn't an old network. This is all windows XP based networking. Nothing is running netbui on the network and it's a huge pain to install such an aged protocol on XP anyways. Plus it would require redoing the entire LAN network to work, and all I want to do is set one NIC for internet use and one NIC for lan use.

@cat5e, I can't use a router to control this. Or well, I could setup the router which is already in use on the LAN to not allow the LAN nic out onto the internet but that would just break my internet connection on the computer because windows is only trying to use the lan NIC onlien and not the other NIC.

@silenze, as I said I don't want to use the net which comes from the LAN because it's not my bandwidth to use. I get my own internet connection to use, although I still want to be on the LAN with the other people.
