What else besides the plastic piece can I use to set the jumpers on a hard drive? I can't find the little plastic piece for one hard drive that I need to set the jumpers on so cmos can detect it.

do you have a cdrom drive audio cable? if so, you can take it and cut off part of the plastic (so only 2 pin connectors remain). then you take the wires of each pin connector and short them. voila! a macgyver jumper!

PS - It has to be a "Digital Audio" cable the other ones won't fit correctly.

or carefully bend the 2 pins in questions towards each other and make them contact one another... ;)

Why not just go to your local retailer and buy a few, they are pennies.. and as for bending the 2 pins that is a definite NO as if you need to straighten them again there is a possibilty that one or both of them will snap and then you will be in big trouble.

2nd for the 'go buy a few'--- but you COULD always solder them together ;) hahaha

Of course he should go buy the part, heck most mom n pop shops would even give 1 or 2 for free...I threw the bend the pins idea assuming he lived in a rather isolated section of the world, with that assumption bending the pins, even though not the best alternative, can still be done a few times without damaging anything.
