setting up a network, one xp, one 95

hi!
ive been trying to solve this problem o mine for a long time, but it look like im never ever gonna solve it myself.
so, heres the problem:
i have one pc, running on wXp OS and one laptop (ibm thinkpad 770, reeeeeeaaaalyyy old ), running on win95. now i want to connect them together.
tried the xp home network setup wizard already, but doesnt work on 95, tried something on my own, i get a connection, but when i want to ping the other computer o would like to se whats in "My Network Neighborhood" i get nothing(on wXp) or just the one computer im working on (this means on the laptop)
so, if anyone has any suggestions (id prefer a complete guide through the hole setup process), please, im all ears (and eyes)

now i have another question, can i somehow update the win95 on the thinkpad, by sharing one of the cd-roms on the pc and thereby installing for example win2000 on the thinkpad, you think its possible?

 

I've never personally done that, but it actually should work. At least if you update to XP. I can't recall older versions of windows. But usually when you start an upgrade from within windows it will copy all the needed files to the HD, and then reset and continue the install off the copied files.

Which means it should work, but I've honestly never tried.

 

yeah, but do you think, that an os like wxp or win2000 could actually work on a laptop like this one? its a 300mhz cpu mostly, 32mb of ram and app. 2gb space on the hd
