Setting up a static IP for the 6520

    hey guys, im new.

    i need to set up static IP for my speedstream 6250...

    on the network i have:
    1. 1 desktop (vista)(USB)
    2. 1 Desktop (XP SP2) (Ethernet)
    3. 1 Laptop (XP SP2) (WAN)
    4. 1 Laptop (XP SP2) (WAN) (soon to be added)
    5. 1 Laptop (XP SP2) (WAN) (disconnected)

    I need a static IP soo i dont have to port forwanded again and again for everytime i restart my computer. which is the 1 desktop (vista)(USB) which i play games and host on plz

    ? a little confused ?
    Sounds like you need a static ip on the gaming PC, not the router.
    But if you need a static external ip on the speedstream you'll need to call your provider and pay for one.
    Where are you doing all this forwarding? on the PC (&how?) or on the speedstream?

    sorry yea i need a static ip on my pc (vista) and im doing the port forwanding on the the vista computer using the 10.0.0.XXX thing but the ip keep changing so... i need a static ip on the computers on the network

    Ok did you check the link I posted? I can't tell you first hand how to - haven't had time for vista... been trying to replace a nt4 server at work..lol

    You need to know the dhcp scope and chage the range of addresses the router hands out or you might wind up with 2 pcs with the same IP.

    havent had the time yet but am i geting this riight... you set it up from the pc end not the rotour end

    correct.... but like he said you might want to change the range for ips on the router so it doesn't accidentally assign another computer with same IP you set up to be static.....
